- Toyama Shingo Born in Yokohama.
Initially self-taught in sculptural creations, after discovering the work of master Buddhist image-maker, Seki Yuga, I became an apprentice and am continuing to learn under the master.
In the past few years, I have widened my repertoire to include three dimensional works Glassphotos and installation pieces.
I joined forces with artist Usuki Hideyuki to actively pursue projects as Art unit HUST（TOYAMA SHINGO/USUKI HIDEYUKI）.
As Art unit HUST（TOYAMA SHINGO/USUKI HIDEYUKI） ,our work was selected for the 22nd TARO Okamoto Award of Contemporary Art.
- Characteristics of Silk sculpture
1. I make silk floss which is Japanese traditional material. Furthermore, I utilize it by my own method to create my works, which is very unique and the similar method should not to be found in the world.
2. Since it is made of silk floss, the works are very light yet durable and it has some special sense of presence. It is opposite from sculptures made of marble, bronze or wood.
3. Industrial products such as the mechanical clocks and radio valves are incorporated in the works.
4. My works are unique and do not apply to the conventional concepts of sculptures.
5. Since it weighs only one kilogram even for the life-size figure, it slowly moves and changes its form by the movement of the audience or air conditioner.
6. It is very thin (about 3mm at most) and penetrates the light, the work changes its atmosphere by the surrounding lighting conditions.
7. Since the figures have unique joints, arms and legs can be moved and their forms can be
changed manually.

遠山伸吾
横浜生まれ
独学で彫塑を制作していたところ、公募展入賞をきっかけに鎌倉仏師の関有雅師に見出される。以後、関師に師事し木彫を学ぶ。近年は、立体、硝子写真、インスタレーションなどに創作の幅を広げている。 画家臼木英之と共に Art Unit HUST（TOYAMA SHINGO/USUKI HIDEYUKI） としても精力的に活動している。Art Unit HUST （TOYAMA SHINGO/USUKI HIDEYUKI）として 第22回岡本太郎現代芸術賞展 入選をはたす。
絹彫刻の特徴
1. 日本の伝統技術である真綿（絹）を自ら作り、さらに独自の技法で制作した作品である。
2. 真綿（絹）作のために軽いが丈夫で存在感のある彫刻作品であり、大理石、ブロンズ、木などから製作された重量のある彫刻とは全く異なっている。
3. 等身大の人物像でも1kgと非常に軽量のため、観客の動きや空調の風によって、ゆっくりと動きそのフォルムを変化させる
4. 作品は厚みが薄く（最大でも3mm程度）光線を透過するため、周囲の光によって作品の表情が変化する
5. 人物像は独自に考案した関節を持つために、手足は可動でフォルムを任意に変化できる。
